Apple Announces MacBook Pro

Apple has announced the MacBook Pro, Apple’s Intel-based successor to the PowerBook line. According to MacMerc:

[The MacBook Pro ships with an] Intel Core Duo! [The Intel Core Duo contains two processors (aka “cores”) on a single chip, which means that there will be] two CPUs in every MacBook Pro. OS X v10.4.4 and its bundled applications are native to the Intel CPU, and iLife ’06 and iWork ’06 are universal. Rosetta is the emulator that runs normal PPC apps, and it seems to handle [Microsoft] Office just fine.

The MacBook Pro also ships with a display which is “67%” brighter than existing PowerBooks, a built-in iSight camera, Front Row and the Apple Remote, and a new “MagSafe” power adapter, which “is designed to magnetically guide your cord into place and disconnect smoothly if someone trips over it.”
