State of the Word 2013

This year’s State of the Word, sort of the annual address to the WordPress community by co-founder Matt Mullenweg, is now available for viewing (and embedded below).

I highly recommend watching it if you’re interested in the current state and future of WordPress. Some tiny bits worth noting are that 18.9% of the web is now powered by WordPress (up 2.2% from last year), WordPress 3.6 will be released shortly, WordPress 3.7 will be released in October and focus on security and stability, and WordPress 3.8 will be released in December with Matt Mullenweg returning as lead developer taking an experimental plugin-first approach to development.
