In case there was any doubt after the onslaught of rumors, J. J. Abrams has been officially announced as the director of Star Wars 7.
This is rather intriguing news for me, as I grew up in a time where obsession over Star Wars vs. Star Trek was pretty much a blood feud. You could not be a fan of both, to do so was shameful. One could say that it was our Edward vs. Jacob. And yes, we were all too young to realize that Industrial Light and Magic was producing effects for both the Star Wars and Star Trek films (and if you told us, we’d probably deny it and brand you a traitor to your space franchise of choice).
Well, now the man behind Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek: Into Darkness is bringing us Star Wars 7. It’s pretty big news for my generation. The man who brought life back to Star Trek is bringing life back Star Wars, the blood feud is finally over. And, who knows, maybe I’ll get the crossover I’ve always wanted (please don’t tell my friends from school).

A Wookie doctor would sure make for some wacky hijinks. 😀
