Star Trek's Return

I just saw the new trailer for this year’s Star Trek.  I have to say that this will certainly rival Watchmen as my favorite movie of 2009 (so far).  I was never a big Star Trek fan (excluding Voyager, of which I have seen almost every episode), but the alleged premise of this film is very interesting.  It sounds like Nero, a Romulan from the future, somehow travels back in time and either purposefully or accidentally causes the death of the legendary Captain James T. Kirk’s father, which causes Kirk to grow up as a far more immature and reckless individual, and therefore establishes a timeline that is fundamentally different than what we have know of the Star Trek universe.  All I can say is, I’m really looking forward to this.

  1. I can’t wait to see that movie! The previews look freak’n awesome! That’s the first time I’ve heard the plot line. It sounds intriguing and what a great idea. By starting with that plot they completely wipe the slate clean so that they can start fresh with the original crew.

  2. It certainly is intriguing. I’m interested in seeing how far they take this clean slate, especially since it has the potential to change the entire Star Trek universe.
