Favored Freeware: ButtonBuilder

ButtonBuilder is the quick and easy way to create awesome buttons for the web, and best of all it’s open source and free! [It] ships with over 50 buttons ready to use. Change the size, length, caption and hue of each button at anytime, making it a breeze to create buttons that match your website.

Pros: ButtonBuilder is very easy to use and comes with several high-quality button themes and a theme builder to create your own.

Cons: ButtonBuilder does not allow for the addition of icons or other graphics to your buttons, but it’s not too difficult to add such graphics to the exported buttons with an application like Gimp.app.
