Apple Announces iMac with Intel Core Duo

Apple has announced a new iMac, powered by the “revolutionary Intel Core Duo.” According to MacMerc:

The design [of the new Intel-based iMac] is the same [as the previous model], and so is the price. The new Intel Core Duo is 2-3x faster [than the previous G5 models], [contains two processors (aka “cores”) on a single chip], and [each individual] core is faster than a single G5 processor. OS X v10.4.4 and its bundled applications are native to the Intel CPU, and iLife ’06 and iWork ’06 are universal. Rosetta is the emulator that runs normal PPC apps, and it seems to handle [Microsoft] Office just fine.
