Favored Freeware: Nvu

Finally! A complete Web Authoring System for Linux Desktop users as well as Microsoft Windows and Macintosh users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (pronounced N-view, for a “new view”) makes managing a web site a snap. Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML.

Pros: Nvu is easy to use and “ideal for non-programmers.” Nvu is a cross-platform application for Mac, Windows, Linux, and Linspire.

Cons: None significant.

  1. I’m a little skeptical when something is cross-platform because most of the time it means it’s not optimized for my OS (Panther). Nice find though. Will check it out some time!
By the way, isn’t Linspire a Linux distro? =)

  2. Technically it is, but the industry tends to regard it as a separate entity due to how commercial it’s becoming.
