Caucasian New Year?

I know this happened a month ago, but for some reason, I was reminded about my college’s attempt at celebrating the 2005 Chinese New Year. I was expecting to see a good display of Chinese culture as I had in past celebrations. There was hardly any Chinese culture to display at this celebration. There was, however, plenty of culture. Culture, after all, is defined as, “The attitudes and behavior that are characteristic of a particular social group or organization.” Ironically, culture can also be defined as, “The cultivation of bacteria or other organisms in artificial media or under artificial conditions.” As for the Chinese culture at this celebration, there was Chinese food, Chinese calligraphy, and Bank of America. I will forever refer to this event as the 2005 Caucasian New Year Celebration.
